The brief called us to design the school in modular form using the courtyards for climatic reasons. We adopted a basic classroom module, stacked it horizontally and vertically like building blocks, with a repetitive color exposure to identify the massing. Single loaded corridor that holds durable, brightly painted railing.
To create a vehicular free premise, the parking was shifted to periphery of the buildings. The building’s key feature is the design which takes the children’s psychology in consideration with adequate cross ventilation and cut down the harsh western sun; and the passage way that draws you to a central, linear open-to-sky courtyard, which is the soul of the space and takes education “out of the box” and invites public to participate.
